About our project:

The place where the group EVS project will take place is a small rural village in Istria in Croatia. The village named Verteneglio is undergoing a quick development fostering sustainability, youth active participation in policy making and rural tourism as emerging economy. The Local Democracy Agency works on rural development and youth policy issues closely with local institutions and NGOs and will involve volunteers in these cooperation activities thought the Group EVS project.

The service of the duration of 11 months starts on September 2012 and ends on July 2012.

The service will give to the volunteers the opportunity to learn about new cultures and languages as the peculiar of this Municipality is that Verteneglio is the "most Italian" village in Istria, as the Italian minority represents the majority. The volunteers will be followed into their working integration by taking part in the activities run by the LDA. Their social integration will be assured too by involving them in the life of the local community (international evenings, outdoor activities with local youth, active participation to rural development) and they will be encouraged to act as individuals sharing their experience with local population by holding meetings about their culture and their hobbies/interests. They will also get the opportunity to collaborate with local institutions (Italian Community, Tourist office, Municipality and nursery).
